What is the Functional Center?
Weather, climate, landslides, floods: these are the topics that the technicians working here deal with every day. The structure is an integral part of the civil protection system for issuing regional alerts and, thanks also to the collaboration with ARPA VdA, it has an observational network of over one hundred ground stations. These stations cover the entire territory — from 300 m in Donnas to 4,800 m on Mont Blanc — and transmit in real time data on temperature, precipitation, wind, humidity, pressure, solar radiation and snow on the ground.
